China's soybean and oil crop seed supply meets national planting needs 04-21-2022

According to a recent report from China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the seed supply for spring and summer sown crops meets the planned level necessary for planting. Due to an abundance of seed for soybean and oil crops, farmers will also be able to expand these crops to new farmland. The types and planting areas of soybean and oil crops will vary, and the prices of soybean and oil crops this year are slightly higher than last year. Currently, as the spring harvest has progressed from the south to the north, the seed market has gradually started to increase in activity.

China's grain seed supply continues to grow with support from government

The monitoring systems of China's National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center show that in 2022, China's supply of conventional rice and hybrid rice, corn, cotton seeds and potato seed potatoes will significantly exceed the demand, and the relation between supply and demand will be loose. The total supply of soybean commercial seeds increased by 13% compared to last year. According to the calculation of the number of seeds used throughout the year, in addition to the farmers' own seeds, the current available seed will meet the needs of soybean expansion and the promotion of soybean and corn belt composite planting.

China's three major grain crops are rice, wheat, and corn. China's Ministries of Finance and of Agriculture and Rural Affairs provide farmers of these crops with extensive subsidies, including full cost insurance and planting income insurance, in an effort to support the development of modern agriculture and ensure national food security.

China's Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs executes economic plan for stable seed and crop markets

Currently, China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs is carrying out an agricultural plan with four specific goals. The first goal of this economic plan is to strengthen regulation regarding planting schedules and planting conditions, monitor the supply and demand dynamics of various seeds and crops across the country, and closely track the trends of the seed and crop markets. The second goal of this economic plan is to strengthen seed supply chains, as well as to establish a national seed supply system that ensures that key regions are provided with seeds of key crops wheneer necessary. The system aims to find seed surpluses and deficits and to ensure that regions across China have enough seed for successful planting. The third goal of this economic plan is to strengthen market supervision, cooperate closely with relevant local government bodies, carry out in-depth seed industry supervision and law enforcement activities, strengthen random inspection and law enforcement of seed quality, strictly investigate and punish illegal acts of producing and selling fake or low quality seeds, and take firm measures against those who maliciously drive up seed prices and disrupt market order. The fourth goal of this economic is to strengthen national seed reserves. In 2022, the state possessed 50 million kilograms of seed reserves for disaster relief and famine preparation measures, which can meet agricultural production needs, disaster relief needs, and market adjustment needs throughout the year.
