In 2013, the sweetener industry in China witnesses ups and downs throughout its development.The sweetener industry produced a total of more than 13 million tones of sweeteners in 2013, increasing by about 8% than that of 2012, while
sugar
alcohol and functional oligosaccharides developed quickly and HIS and
starch sugar
developed relatively slowly. As for the import and export, in 2013, more than 1.4 million tones of sweeteners were exported abroad.Starch sugar products are the major exported sweeteners in China and their
export volume
accounted for more than 85% of the total in 2013.Similar to the export of sweetener, the import volume of starch sugar accounted for more than 90% of the total import volume in 2013. The Chinese government had issued policies to limit the chemical synthesis method in producing sweetener products and encourage the fermentation method to produce sweetener products. Currently, there are more and more enterprises trying to use the fermentation method. In this report, all major dynamics of the sweetener industry in 2013 had been described and analyzed in the aspects of current development, production technology, price trend of major sweeteners, and relative policies, etc.
