Reuters reported that Aperam, one of the major stainless producers in Europe is currently discussing the possibility to change the stainless steel pricing with its customer, according to Philippe Darmayan, the CEO of Aperam.
Darmayan said that the changes will make the stainless steel pricing become more like the system for aluminum or copper, based on the metal prices at London Metal Exchange (LME), along with an extra component which is agreed between the steelmaker and client.
As the stainless steel pricing is not normal, it may make part of the industry to guess the evolution of the prices before it is carried out. Thus, it's time to have the discussions with customer, Darmayan said.
It's known that the current European stainless steel pricing is composed by two elements, a base prices and a monthly alloy surcharge
