Chinese steelmaker Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel (Shougang Jingtang) has ordered the installation of two electrolytic tinning lines from the German plantmaker SMS Siemag, for the annual production of 475,500 mt of high quality tinplate. Electrolytic tinning is used to protect ultra-thin sheet against corrosion by applying a thin layer of tin to be used as packaging material.
Both lines are scheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2013 with an annual production of 237,500 mt each. The width of the strips to be treated on the lines may vary between 700 mm and 1,280 mm, and it will be possible to process strip gages of 0.12-0.55 mm.
