According to the reported compiled by MOFCOM, the domestic coke price rebounded slightly last week, ending the two consecutive week declines. In detail, China's coke price inched up by 0.7% last week as compared to previous week. Among them, the metallurgical coke price had rose by 0.8% vs prior week and but price for cupola coke was basically unchanged from previous week.

Regionally, the metallurgical coke price in Handan and Linfen edged up 1.6% and 1.1% respectively last week vs prior week. Constrained by the tight supplies, HBIS had increased their purchasing prices by 1.4% to 2105 yuan per ton.

It is analyzed that the tight coking coal supply and vigorous market demand is the main reason for the current price hikes.
