According to the State Statistics Committee of Russia (Russtat), in the first seven months of the current year Russia registered a 2.4 percent decline in its rolled steel product output to 33.8 million mt, a three percent decrease in its crude steel output to 40.4 million mt and a 0.7 percent decline in its pig iron production to 29.2 million mt, all year on year. In the given period, Russia saw an 8.6 percent increase year on year in its steel pipe production to 5.9 million mt.
In addition, in January-July Russia produced 199 million mt of coal, unchanged year on year, and 15.2 million mt of metallurgical coke, down 3.9 percent year on year.
