On May 24, the first cargo of some 145,000 cubic meters LNG was delivered to Jiangsu LNG receiving terminal, marking the trial operation of this project.

The cargo was delivered by the Q-Flex LNG carrier "Al Rekayyat" from Qatar, which is the world's second largest one and the largest LNG carrier that ever been received in China. With a total length of 315 meters and a width of 50 meters, the ship has a full capacity of 216,000 cubic meters.

Located in Rudong county of Jiangsu Province, the LNG project is composed of artificial islands, receiving terminals, pierhead trestles and sea-crossing pipelines, mainly receiving, storing, gasifying and transporting oversea LNG. The project has a maximum unshipping capacity of 267,000 cubic meters.

At present, the phase 1 project has been completed with the annual receiving capacity of 3.5 million tons and the gas deliverability of 4.8 billion cubic meters. Meanwhile, it can provide ten days peak shaving gas accommodation for the West-East Gas Pipeline. The phase 2 project is planned to become commissioning at the end of 2013, which will boost the annual receiving capacity to 6.5 million tons and the gas deliverability to 8.7 billion cubic meters. The project will have a long run capacity of 10 million tons and 13.5 billion cubic meters respectively.
