On May 26, PetroChina Huhhot Petrochemical Company started construction on a 5Mt/a refining project for capacity upgrade.

A total of 10 refining and auxiliary devices, as well as a 150kt/a polypropylene unit will be built, mainly producing gasoline and diesel, and by-products such as polypropylene, fine propylene, benzene and LPG. With a total investment of RMB 7.8 billion, the project is expected to be completed and become operational in 2012 to achieve an annual production capacity of 4.64 million tons.
