On December 23, PetroKazakhstan, a holding company of CNPC, was awarded the silver "Paryz 2008" in "The Best Socially Responsible Enterprise" nomination by the Kazakh Government for its performance excellence in corporate social responsibility, evidenced by favorable remuneration and welfare, stable job opportunities sufficient professional training and on-the-job training for its employees, as well as its outstanding achievements in safe operation and
environmental protection
.
PetroKazakhstan ranks 3th among the 29 medal wining enterprises, and is at the top of all the oil and gas enterprises that participating in the evaluation and selection. The Caspian Sea Continental Shelf Group, established by Shell, AGP and other five Western consortium, and Chevron's Tengiz Company rank 4th and 11th respectively.
