CNPC issues its Environmental Protection Report 2007

Right on the 37th World Environment Day, CNPC formally issued its Environmental Protection Report 2007, which reflects CNPC's practices and performance in fulfilling its environmental protection responsibility throughout the year.

This is the tenth successive year that CNPC issues its Environmental Protection Report since 1998. According to the report, in 2007, CNPC saved 1.4 million metric tons of standard coal equivalents and 55 million cubic meters of water, discharges of COD (chemical oxygen demand) and oil-based pollutants fell 4.4% and 13.2% respectively, and the growth rate of sulfur dioxide emissions decreased sharply.

In 2007, CNPC donated RMB 300 million to support China's carbon sequestration works, hosted the 14th ISO/TC207 Annual Conference, and sponsored and participated a series of significant activities such as "Methane to Markets Partnership Expo" and "Choose People of the Year of Green China through Public Appraisal", showing an increasing awareness of social responsibility in environmental protection and a more important role in the international environmental protection campaign.
