Vietnam deals with feed price reduction measures

The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has discussed measures to cut back animal feed price increases, the state media reported.

The MARD's Animal Husbandry Department and the Vietnam Association of Animal Feed worked with animal feed producers at a meeting in Hanoi Mar 15 in a bid to help the country's animal husbandry overcome difficulties including power shortage, animal disease outbreaks and high feed prices.

At the meeting, a number of measures were proposed including import tax reduction for corn and wheat, export tax raising for cassava products, available financial resources and foreign currencies for animal feed producers.

The participants recommended the country to set up stabilising fund for main materials including corn and soy using in animal feed production. Moreover, favourable condition for producing and trading were also asked for.

Prices of materials using for animal feedrose by between 7% and 36% compared to that in the same period last year, the Animal Husbandry Department said.
