SCA NuTec launches new range of piglet starter feeds

Specialist pig feed company SCA NuTec has launched new range of piglet starter feeds that are designed to aid digestibility and enhance piglet health.

The new Weanrite range includes 10 diets for each growth stage to best match the requirements of a growing pig. The new diets can help improve growth rates and performance from pre-weaning to around 25kg live weight.

SCA NuTec nutritionist Michelle Sprent said the diets were incorporated with new ingredients developed and trialed through parent company Provimi''s global research programme.

Sprent said new components in the Weanrite range include an immune-boosting product to stimulate antibody response and support immune function, and a combination of natural antioxidants alongside Vitamin E.

The new diets also included a pre- and probiotic package into its Tranzone package, a package of organic acids and essential oils that improve gut health.

The new package Tranzone 2 could help improve the balance and action of gut bacteria, with trials showing the inclusion of the pre- and probiotics have improved average daily gain between 7.5-20 percent.

SCA NuTec also had a fresh look at energy sources within each ration and adjusted the ratios of different fat types, as research showed that different fat ratios have a key role in improving body function and structure as well as being a vital source of energy, said Sprent.

The Weanrite range has been simplified into groups starting with pre-starter feeds then stage 1, 2, and 3 feeds.

The simplification will help the company''s business managers and customers to select the most effective combination of piglet starter feeds for each particular unit and growing system, Sprent added.
