Limited vitamin C output pushed prices to move higher during the period in review, with the buoyant pre-festive demand lending further support to the market.
As of December 31, offer prices for pharmaceutical-grade vitamin C were mainly around RMB27/kg while quotes by small- and medium-scale producers were slightly lower.
Ex-factory price quotes for the export markets were higher at US$3.75-3.80/kg.
Low availability due to production cuts, pre-Chinese New Year stockpiling, and a stable export market will help to keep vitamin C market stable in January.
RMB1=US$0.1652 (Jan 2)
