US expansion drives Jamaica Broilers sales higher
Sales turnover for Jamaica Broilers Group has crossed the US$270 million mark for the first time following an expansion period since 2012, the Poultry Site reports.
Growth for the business year ending May 2014 was led by strong US division performance, which although fledgling, helped overall sales climb by US$40 million. US turnover doubled to US$60 million, while operating profit increased sixteen-fold to US$2.96 million.
Overall profits for Jamaica Broilers contracted marginally from US$10 million to US$8.19 million, attributed to losses in the ethanol division. Other factors were a growing debt-servicing bill and increased operating expenses.
