Purina recalls poultry feed distributed in Oregon and Washington
The Purina Animal Nutrition LLC's (Purina) feedplant in Portland, Oregon, made a limited recall of certain poultryfeeds due to the concern over lower-than-expected vitamin and trace mineral levels.
Inadequate vitamin and trace mineral levels can result in health problems in poultry, including mortality. So far, the company has not received customer complaints.
The products were distributed to retailers in Oregon and Washington State. The problem was discovered during the investigation of a discrepancy in ingredient inventory.
This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the US Food and Drug Administration.
Purina, a leading feed company in North America, offers animal feed products and ingredients.
