US pork inventories down 2.2% in November
At the end of November, US pork stockpiles dropped 2.2% compared from a year earlier, the government said.
According to USDA, warehouses held 546.333 million pounds of pork, down from 558.688 million on November 30, 2012, inventories declined 3.3% from the end of October.
The latest government forecast shows that US pork production is projected to total 23.22 billion pounds (10.5 million tonnes) this year, down 0.1% from 2012, while pork output in November fell 1.8% from a year earlier.
