The 2,000-mu (133-hectares) Qingdao Ziyunlai International Tea Trading Center, which is located in Jiaozhou, on the outskirts of Qingdao, Shandong province, opened for business on Nov 30 with a total investment of nearly two billion yuan ($325 million), which is expected to become the biggest tea trading center in Northeast Asia.
The tea trading center will not only provide business areas and large-scale cold storages for the tea enterprises, but will also provide various advanced tea processing machines. It also held a tea cultural festival during the launch ceremony, which was attended by hundreds of visitors.
So far, more than 180 tea enterprises have signed investment contracts with the tea trading center, according to the staffer of the center.
The reason for choosing Jiaozhou as the location of the tea trading center is that the area is considered to be the tea production base in North China for its time-honored tea culture. In addition, Jiaozhou boasts convenient transportation with its developed modern agriculture and logistics industry.
