The vegetable supply action plan, which seeks to promote modern agriculture development in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will be carried out from 2015 to 2020 to make Guiyang a self-sufficient city in terms of vegetable, meat and fresh milk supply, according to the working conference of the Guiyang municipal agriculture commission on February 27.

In line with the working conference, 75 percent of vegetables and 70 percent of meat and fresh milk as well as poultry will be self-supplied instead of imported from other regions by 2020.

In compliance with the action plan, which is based on the advantages of mountain resources and characteristics, the agricultural structure will be adjusted comprehensively with the implementation of a vegetable plan that stabilizes the supply of agriculture products.

In 2020, the total output volume of vegetables will be 300 tons, along with 30 tons of fruit products and 2 tons of tea.

The red line of farmland, which seeks to carry out stringent protection, has been adopted for the protection of vegetable supply farmland bases, which covers 20,000 hectares.

The amended regulations on vegetable bases must be implemented strictly to enhance quality in a comprehensive way.

The price stabilization system must be improved by guiding enterprises to build vegetable bases in outskirt areas.
