Ceke border crossing, a major international crossing in northern China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, imported 719,827 tonnes of coal from neighboring Mongolia in April, up 2.9% year on year, showed the local customs data on May 11.Total value of the imports stood at 126.64 million yuan ($20.73 million), down 6.42% from the previous year. That translated to an average import price of 175.9 yuan/t, down 9.2 yuan/t from March and down 16.7 yuan/t from the previous year.Over January-April, coal imports through Ceke border reached 2.77 million tonnes, surging 71.37% on year, with total value up 34.34% from the year prior to 466.32 million yuan. The local customs attributed the increase largely to the price cut of Mongolian coals and improved domestic demand.
