Inner Mongolia autonomous region, China’s leading
coal
production base, produced 453 million tonnes of coal during the first half of the year, down 7.3% from the year before, showed the latest data from the regional coal industry bureau.Of this, coal output in western and eastern Inner Mongolia stood at 329 million and 123 million tonnes, down 5.44% and 12.02% year on year, respectively.The average price of western high-vol thermal coals stood at 154 yuan/t in July, unchanged on month but down 28.4% on year; while the price of western low-vol thermal coals averaged 97 yuan/t, steady on month but down 14.9% on year, said the bureau on its website on July 17.The average coking coal price in the western region increased 10 yuan/t from June but dropped 60% on year to 275 yuan/t during July; anthracite prices averaged 510 yuan/t, unchanged from June but down 30 yuan/t on year.The average ex-plant price of Grade II met

at Wuhai region – one major production base in western Inner Mongolia— dropped 40 yuan/t from June and fell 190 yuan/t on year to 660 yuan/t in July; the washed coal prices in Wuhai averaged 485 yuan/t, up 10 yuan/t on month but down 100 yuan/t on year, said the bureau.Besides, lignite prices in eastern Inner Mongolia averaged 114 yuan/t, up 1 yuan/t on month but down 7 yuan/t from a year ago, said the bureau.In 2014, the autonomous region produced 908.08 million tonnes of coal, down 11.9% from the year prior. It aimed to control coal output below 1 billion tonnes in 2015, said the local government.
