Mark Farmer, Ph.D., has joined the Diamond V Poultry Team as Business Manager, Layers.

Mark will work closely with poultry and feed companies to implement the company''s yeast product Original XPC and optimise poultry performance, health, and food safety for their businesses.

"Dr. Farmer brings more than 30 years of extraordinarily diverse experience in poultry science, teaching and training, and technical services to the poultry and feed industries. In his role at Ridley, Mike notes, Mark was "responsible for the day-to-day nutritional decisions affecting a large number of laying hens, broilers, ducks, geese, pheasant, and quail across the United States."

Mark''s career also has included a six-year posting as Training Center Director for an integrated producer and commercial egg operation in Saudi Arabia. He taught all phases of poultry production and processing and expanded the programme to include university agricultural and veterinary students and government personnel. He also consulted for the company''s subsidiaries in Egypt and United Arab Emirates. Previously, Mark provided executive management, technical services, and research services for the Marshall Durbin Companies, Townsend Farms, and Cargill, respectively.

Mark has been an Affiliate Associate Professor of Poultry Science at Auburn University, and was active in Auburn''s layer and broiler research programmes.

Mark earned his B.S. in Animal & Dairy Sciences from Auburn University, where he received the Sigma XI Research Award. Also, he earned his M.S. in Poultry Nutrition and Ph.D. in Interdepartmental Biochemistry & Nutrition from Auburn.
