Shanxi province, a major coal production base in northern China, produced 124.5 million tonnes of raw coal over January-February this year, decreasing 3.6% on year, showed data from the provincial Bureau of Statistics on March 23.The decline was mainly impacted by the low operation rate at coal mines as most of them were having Chinese Lunar New Year holidays and slowed resumption on weak demand in February, and also the national supply-side structural reform prompted the elimination of outdated capacity. In addition, Shanxi posted a yearly drop of 12.1% in pig iron output to 4.89 million tonnes during the same period; output of crude steel and steel products fell 14.6% and 14% from the year prior to 5.13 million tonnes and 5.22 million tonnes, respectively.Power output of the province stood at 36.9 TWh in the first two months, sliding 8.3% year on year.In the face of the existing overcapacity and newly-added capacity, the province vowed to draft an overcapacity elimination plan this year in multiple and efficient ways.CCR cordially invites you to participate in the 6th Global Coking Coal Resource & Market Summit to be held from 24th to 25th March 2016 in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province.
