Cherkizovo completes construction of 450,000-tonne feed mill
OSJC 'Cherkizovo' Group has completed the construction of a compound feed mill for swine with the capacity of 450,000 tonnes in Voronezh Oblast, reported the press-service of the company.
The feed mill is the biggest in the Central Federal District and one of the largest in Russia. The project cost a total of RUB 2.2 billion (US$34.3 million). Chekizovo plans to build two more production units with additional investment amounting to RUB 9.2 billion (US$143.5 million).
The feed mill is built to meet the demand of two swine farms that the company is currently constructing in the region.
Each one is designed for 294,000 head or 35,000 tonnes in live weight per year. Cherkizovo plans to complete construction in 2017 and reach the designed capacity of 70,000 tonnes per year.
"In the near future we plan to increase the total volume of meat production to one million tonnes per year, and reach 275,000 tonnes in live weight by 2017," said the general director of Cherkizovo Sergei Mikhailov.
